HCBS Core Values Fall Fair

Within the Arcadia Family of Companies, each team member strives to serve with a set of eight Core Values as their internal compass. In each interaction employees aim to be humble, be understanding, be gentle, be just, be merciful, be honest, be peaceful, and be faithful.

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) celebrated our Core Values and the autumn season at their second annual Core Values Fall Fair. Arcadia Adult Day Care clients and Arcadia At Home members participated in an array of fun and interactive activities that focused on our Core Values. As part of the event, $325 in monetary donations and non-perishable food items were collected on behalf of the Hawaii Foodbank to help those in need. Thank you to everyone for coming out and taking part in the festivities!

Holiday Wreaths

Arcadia’s Arts and Crafts Committee hosted a wreath-making workshop just in time for the holidays. Residents were supplied with grapevine wreaths that they customized for any holiday or occasion with various greenery, ribbon, and special decorations. The beautiful results showcased the creativity of Arcadians.

“You Can Count on Me” Faithful Event

15 Craigside celebrated the Core Value faithful with the theme “You Can Count On Me” inspired by the Angie Weiland-Crosby quote, ”A tree knows the sun intimately. They are old faithful friends.” Residents and staff stopped by the Lobby to pick up a homemade pudding cup with an Oreo bottom, topped with whip cream and a handmade chocolate pretzel tree. Small plants were also offered to those who were committed to taking care and nurturing a new “friend.”

Gobble, Gobble!

Residents at 15 Craigside created an adorable turkey candy craft just in time for Thanksgiving. After carefully cutting the turkey outline, the paper was folded to create a little pocket to hold some treats. Mini Hershey bars were added and ready to be gobbled up!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, here are some interesting facts about turkeys:

  • Only male turkeys gobble
  • Wild turkeys sleep in trees
  • Their poop determines if they’re male or female - a male’s poop is shaped like the letter J, while the female’s is more spiral-shaped
  • Turkeys can see better than humans

Message of Gratitude

In this season of gratitude, we share a message from Arcadia At Home (AAH) members. Mahalo to our employees for enhancing the journey for the Nakamuras! "We are truly grateful for the peace that AAH has brought us.  Our goal when we applied to AAH was to have our future needs taken care of, such as when one prepares a will or a trust.  But unexpectedly, we have experienced peace of mind because the core values are truly expressed by the actions and deeds of the AAH staff, especially by Dee Rezentes and Shannon Miyazaki.  Our journey to AAH began when Chanel Morisato took me and friends on a tour of Craigside. She was  very gracious and forthcoming about information and materials which eventually led us to AAH.  Such as with Dee and Shannon, her actions and deeds truly reflect the core values.  We are truly grateful to our new friends and family."  - Aloha, Karen and Wayne Nakamura

Wall of Travel

Geography Awareness Week is celebrated in November to raise awareness about the significance of geography to everyone’s lives and encourage people to consider their relationship with the environment. At Arcadia, residents observed the week by pinpointing their favorite destinations on a map. It was amazing to see all the colorful pins marking the vast places around the world that Arcadians have traveled to.

Navian Hawaii Fundraiser

The Arcadia Family of Companies was a proud sponsor of the Navian Hawaii fundraising gala Na Hoa Malama (The Caring Friends) Enchanted Garden 2022 at the Alohilani Resort. Proceeds from the event fund Navian Hawaii’s mission to bring hope, reduce fears and impact lives as they guide and assist patients and their families through difficult times.

Good News!

Congratulations to 15 Craigside’s Health Care Center and Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia! U.S. News recently released their 2022-2023 Best Nursing Homes, with updated ratings of more than 15,000 skilled nursing facilities. Both are among the elite 16% of skilled nursing facilities that earned a “high performing” rating, the highest possible achievement. Way to go!

Golf Fundraiser

A trio of team members represented the Arcadia Family of Companies at the 2022 Eha Koa Golf Tournament at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club. Proceeds from the tournament enables the Armed Services YMCA to support junior enlisted military members and their families with childcare, emergency financial assistance, access to food, school programs, and more.

“I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! In this season of thanks, I share this quote from Melody Beattie – ‘Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.’” - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
