Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations

The Arcadia Family of Companies celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day with happiness, excitement, and spirit! The Arcadia Adult Day Care at Central Union Church spent the day participating in many fun festivities. Clients created adorable leprechaun crafts and chose their own lei and tattoos to wear. In addition, they were treated with a refreshing Saint Patrick’s Day float and took home a leprechaun hat filled with their favorite candies. Clients and employees had a wonderful time getting dressed up and spending time with one another. Residents in the Health Care Center at 15 Craigside played trivia games and enjoyed green confetti jello. A huge mahalo to the Activities teams for putting together such entertaining and lively programs for our residents and clients. It is so heartwarming to see all of the smiles, joy, and laughter within our family.

Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations Continued

The Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations continued at 15 Craigside and Arcadia. Both communities held festive events with a luck of the Irish theme. 15 Craigside residents gathered in the Lobby and enjoyed snacks and beverages such as green popcorn, Guinness beer, wine, and ginger ale before having delicious corned beef and cabbage for dinner. Arcadia was delighted with a performance from Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii. The Main Lounge was full of residents and staff who loved the music and dancing. The performers said this was their largest audience of the day!

Honolulu Museum of Art

The Arcadia Adult Day Care clients took a trip to the Honolulu Museum of Art to experience art, history, and culture. Everyone loved seeing all of the unique exhibits and learning about the individual works. They also stopped at the museum’s café for a refreshing and yummy lunch. The café has been there for over 50 years, serving casual contemporary cuisine to perfectly compliment the experience of the tour.

Buca Di Beppo Luncheon

Last Monday, clients at the Arcadia Adult Day Care at Central Union Church enjoyed a large and flavorful lunch at Buca Di Beppo and sat at the pope table! The popular restaurant chain was created by Phil Roberts and his intention was to present the most exaggerated, over-the-top version of red sauce joints. He made sure the décor was tacky, portions were enormous, and atmosphere was boisterous.

Isabel Cheever Workshop

Punahou student, Isabel Cheever, came back to Arcadia to lead another art workshop! Isabel guided our residents in a mushroom house drawing with pencil before adding the bright and vibrant colors. Participants had the choice of adding color with paint or markers. Everyone had a great time showing off their creative skills and adding their own interpretation to their masterpiece!

Shamrock Pin Making

Arcadia residents were feeling lucky and created adorable shamrock pins! Participants used green ribbon to fold into tiny clovers. A pin was added to the back of the clovers and flowers were added to the center to create unique and colorful designs. Fun fact: There are approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every “lucky” four-leafed clover.

S'mores Pancakes

Residents at Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia love sweet treats! The baking club tried out the EPIC s’mores pancake kit to create these graham cracked flavored pancakes, topped with hot fudge, marshmallows, and marshmallow icing. The snack was a big success and brought lots of joy to all of the residents. There is always room for something sugary!

Yummy Sweet Treat

The Center clients took a relaxing and scenic drive around Waikiki and stopped at Baskin-Robbins for a tasty dessert. The company was founded in 1945 by Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins. They are known for their “31 flavors” slogan, with the idea that a customer could have a different flavor for every day of the month. There are more than 8,000 stores nationwide!

“March 20th was the first day of spring marking the spring equinox. The season signifies rejuvenation, renewal and regrowth. As we exit the “winter season” in Hawaii, rejuvenate yourself, get out there and enjoy the outdoors!” - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
