Celebrating the Spirit of Obon

The 15 Craigside Health Care Center came together to celebrate its annual Bon Dance, a beloved tradition filled with music, dancing, and community spirit. Residents and staff enjoyed traditional favorites like homemade andagi and yakisoba while listening and dancing along to fan-favorite Bon Dance songs. The festive gathering brought smiles and laughter as residents and staff danced, celebrated, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. It was a meaningful opportunity to honor traditions, come together, and create lasting memories.

Seafood, Friends, and Fellowship

Arcadia At Home members and several former members who now reside at Arcadia gathered for a lunch outing at Da Seafood Cartel in Aiea. Known for its fresh seafood, authentic Mexican-inspired flavors and vibrant selection of ceviche, tostadas, and tacos, the restaurant provided the perfect setting for an enjoyable afternoon of delicious food, fellowship, and reconnecting with friends.

Harvesting Health and Aloha

The Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia Garden Club continues to flourish, bringing residents together through the joy of gardening. Residents harvested fresh spinach and arugula, enjoying the garden-grown produce as a healthy snack. They also gathered and bundled fragrant herbs to share with staff and visitors, spreading a little extra aloha throughout the community.

A New Chapter for Ho’omau

As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re making a change to the Ho’omau publication schedule. Beginning with this issue, Ho’omau will be published on the first Friday of every month, replacing our previous every-other-Friday schedule. This new monthly format gives us the opportunity to bring you a more comprehensive collection of stories and community news in each edition. Our goal remains the same: to keep our AFC ohana informed, connected, and engaged. Mahalo for your continued readership and for the contributions that help make Ho’omau possible. We look forward to sharing more stories, updates, and moments from across the AFC with you each month!

A Hole Lot of Fun

It was a fun day of friendly competition at 15 Craigside’s Mini Golf Event! The Wellness Team created a six-hole putt-putt course, complete with bonus holes, as residents competed for the top 10 spots and cheered each other on. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed building their own trail mix.

Mindful Movement

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients participated in a rejuvenating tai chi class led by instructors from the YMCA of Honolulu. Through gentle movements and mindfulness, they practiced balance, flexibility, and relaxation.

A Magical Disney Carnival

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients enjoyed a magical Disney-themed carnival filled with fun games, exciting prizes, and plenty of smiles.

“Labor Day is a day about work, and about the people who do it. Thank you to our team members, whose hands and hearts carry this organization every day, and to our residents, clients, and members, who fill these communities with life. What I see every day is people taking care of each other, quietly and without being asked. That is who we are.  I hope this weekend brings you rest, good company, and a slower pace.”
