Savoring Connections

Everyone enjoyed delicious bites, including jackfruit lettuce wraps, tender chicken skewers with papaya aioli, shrimp ceviche with coconut lime, kalua pig sliders with mango cabbage coleslaw, and mango chia seed pudding. The relaxed atmosphere was perfect for old friends to reconnect and new friendships to blossom.

First Hints of Fall

AFC Board Chair Martin Zorn shared stunning photos from the Sierra Nevada region. The aspens atop Monitor Pass are just beginning to turn, along the Carson River, fall colors are still early.

The top photo captures the Carson River near Markleeville, and the bottom photo shows the aspens at the red-marked spot atop Monitor Pass, about a 30-minute drive from Carson Valley. Along the route, three Sierra peaks rise about 10,000 feet: Freel Peak, Hawkins Peak, and Roundtop. The bright green patches along the way highlight agricultural valleys, including Gardnerville, Smith Valley, Antelope Valley, and Coleville. Martin’s photos offer a beautiful preview of the season’s changing colors.
