Residents Champion Connection Through Art
Initiated by Mrs. Beverly Tasato and Mr. Alvin Rho, residents of Arcadia, a meaningful partnership with Mid-Pacific Institute (MPI) brought to life an inspiring intergenerational art workshop through storytelling and creative expression.
Arcadia residents led the experience by sharing cherished childhood memories and life stories, sparking heartfelt conversations that bridged generations. MPI students listened with intention and transformed these personal narratives into original works of art, thoughtfully honoring the stories behind them. Guided by faculty mentors Jill Johnson and Daven Yee, the workshop became more than an art class, it evolved into a space for genuine connection and empowered the residents to champion causes they are passionate about.
15 Craigside and Arcadia Celebrating Together
Arcadia residents and performers from Na Kapuna O Arcadia Hula Halau and the 15 Craigside “No Name” Serenaders came together in a joyful celebration of music and culture. Through this shared performance, the communities connected in a spirit of collaboration, presenting a lively medley of beloved Hawaiian classics that filled the space with warmth, rhythm, and aloha. Graceful hula, accompanied by the gentle strumming of ukuleles, brought traditional songs to life creating a meaningful moment of connection, storytelling, and shared appreciation.
Little Horses, Big Joy
15 Craigside resident, Ms. Nancy Ayotte has been a longtime volunteer with the Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii. Instead of traveling out to Waimanalo, two special guests visited the 15 Craigside dog park, giving staff, residents, and the community a chance to experience the comfort and companionship these gentle animals bring. The two mini horses brought joy to everyone during a heartwarming visit filled with smiles and connection.
Centenarian Celebrations at the AFC
Mrs. Doris Nagamine of the 15 Craigside Health Care Center and Ms. Yoshiko Fukeda of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia each celebrated their 100th birthdays. At 15 Craigside, Mrs. Nagamine was surrounded by family, friends, and staff as she received flowers, heartfelt wishes, birthday cake, and shared a joyful dance to her favorite song. At Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia, Ms. Fukeda was honored within her own community as she reached this special centennial birthday. The Arcadia Family of Companies proudly celebrated both centenarians, recognizing Mrs. Nagamine and Ms. Fukeda for a century of life filled with memories, relationships, and experiences. We wish Mrs. Doris Nagamine and Ms. Yoshiko Fukeda a very happy 100th birthday, with continued joy and good health.
Magic Island Stroll
Arcadia residents enjoyed a leisurely sunny stroll around Magic Island, taking in the sweeping ocean views and refreshing island breeze.
Ribbon Lei Workshop
Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia residents enjoyed a hands-on activity learning how to make flat ribbon leis. Step by step, they practiced folding and securing the ribbons as they watched their creations come together. By the end of the session, residents proudly displayed their finished leis, each one uniquely their own.
"Like a lei crafted with care, our community is made more beautiful by every person in it. This Lei Day, we celebrate YOU – your spirit, your laughter, and the aloha you bring to us every single day. Hauoli La Lei!" - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
