Wellness Fairs
Our Wellness team does a great job encouraging us to get our bodies up and moving. They also help us exercise in a safe, supportive environment, and promote the many benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle.
To highlight different ways of participating in simple exercises, the team put on Wellness Fairs at 15 Craigside and Arcadia. They created five fun games that showcased various activities - Knock it Off, Shoot for Hoops, VirtuSense Veggie Slicer, Tee Time and Target Toss. Each resident was given a scorecard and once completed, they turned it in for a small prize and a chance to win the grand prize. One winner at each community won a one hour massage from Michael Tanouye, Arcadia Family of Companies’ Massage Therapist.
ARA Meeting
During the Arcadia Residents’ Association’s (ARA) fourth quarter meeting, the newly elected Advisory Board members and ARA members were announced.
Delizioso!
Arcadia At Home members decided to take a break from the Thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin flavors to eat some delicious Italian food at Assaggio’s Bistro in Kahala. Members enjoyed a variety of pasta dishes including shrimp picante, calamari marinara and linguine puttanesca. Dessert was a light and fresh lychee sorbet and spumoni.
“Giving Thanks” November Aloha Hour
In the spirit of the season, “Giving Thanks” was the theme of 15 Craigside’s November Aloha Hour. Residents had a meet and greet with De'Shae Roseboro, the new Resident Services Manager, Tyler Kumasaki, the new IT Support Specialist, and said aloha and welcome to Tracie Romualdo as our new Social Worker. They also picked up a special “Blessings Mix” which included Bugles, pretzels, seeds, M&Ms, and a Hershey’s Kiss.
It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
The 15 Craigside elves (aka residents) have been busy decorating their elevator lobbies in the spirit of the holiday season. Take an elevator ride to the floors to look at all the creativity and uniqueness in person!
Merry and Bright Holiday Decorations
The “Merry and Bright” holiday party for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and Human Resources employees is coming up. In preparation, Arcadia Adult Day Care clients, HCBS staff, and Kalani High School volunteers, Jenny and Ellie, helped to create colorful and festive decorations including mini Christmas trees and garland.
Okage Sama De
Guest speaker Lynn Heirakuji visited Arcadia to tell the story of the Nisei (second generation) soldiers of World War II. She shared the timeline of their service and details of their bravery and courage to serve the United States. Their impact and example are an inspiration and ring true to the Japanese expression of okage sama de (I am what I am because of you).
Taiko Performance
In November, Pacific Buddhist Academy students stopped by 15 Craigside for a special taiko performance. The Lobby and Dining Room reverberated with the sounds of taiko drums where residents were mesmerized by the synchronized beats and movements of the students. The resident taiko drummers were also inspired and got to talk with the students after!
Congratulations, Arcadia!
We are delighted to announce that the Health Care Center at Arcadia ranked among the elite 16% of skilled nursing facilities that earned a “high performing” rating, the highest possible achievement. This is in addition to the good news we shared last week of 15 Craigside’s Health Care Center and Hale Ola Kino also receiving this distinction from U.S. News.
“Giving Tuesday takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This day encourages us to give back and contribute what we can to those in need. It’s a great reminder to take a break from shopping and lift others up during the holiday season.” - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
