HCC Activities and Programs Collaboration
Residents from Arcadia’s Health Care Center and Assisted Living/Transitional Resident program recently participated in their first collaboration. A small group of residents gathered outdoors for fresh air and a patriotic craft. Stars made from Popsicle sticks were colored red and blue, just in time for the 4th of July.
Thank you to Arcadia’s Programs and Activities teams for joining forces and bringing our residents closer together! Even though it was a hot summer day, every-one enjoyed themselves and each other’s company.
Patriotic Attire Day
Last Friday, in honor of Independence Day, the Arcadia Family of Companies’ residents, clients, and staff wore red, white and blue patriotic attire to show their spirit. We loved seeing all the stars, stripes and hearts honoring America!
Beautiful Butterflies
Clients at our Adult Day Care and Day Health Center keep their creative juices flowing with a wide variety of crafts. Look at these beautiful butterflies from a recent craft session. Colorful paint applied on black background paper really makes their designs pop!
Waiahole Nursery and Waiahole Poi Factory
More of our residents and clients ventured out to the countryside to visit Waiahole Nursery. Terracotta pots were colorfully painted and filled with a plant as a wonderful souvenir from the excursion. An ono Hawaiian food lunch from the nearby Waiahole Poi Factory was enjoyed by all. What a lovely way to spend the day!
4th of July at 15 Craigside
The 15 Craigside Community Board was looking festive for the 4th of July, thanks to the efforts of residents. They painted wooden stars red, white and blue and added their own designs and style. By working together, an eye-catching display of beautiful stars brightened up the Lobby. To further celebrate the holiday, residents created Independence Day gift bags to share and enjoy. By cutting out cardstock, they made an adorable holder and filled it with red, white and blue M&Ms. How fun!
Tsubasa Award for Excellence
Ms. Marian Okada, Arcadia At Home member, established The Tsubasa Award for Excellence in Japanese Language Studies at Mid-Pacific Institute (MPI) in 2021. Ms. Okada is a friend of MPI and a lifelong student of the Japanese language. The first recipient is Chelsee Sawai, who will start her senior year this fall. She is an academic superstar who juggles her studies with a multifaceted range of extracurricular activities. Chelsee aspires to attend college on the east coast and has a strong interest in going to a Japanese college for her first year. We wish her the best of luck!
Community Partner Spotlight: Mrs. Sheila Black
Arcadia resident, Mrs. Sheila Black, is a community partner of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Kukui Center and recently wrote an article in their newsletter highlighting Arcadia. Mrs. Black coordinated Arcadia residents to prepare the center’s newsletter for mailing. “I was grateful for the opportunity to provide some service for the Kukui Center and offer our residents a way to continue the volunteer work that many of them did prior to moving into Arcadia. We all enjoy the fellowship and chance to become better acquainted with more Arcadia residents in the process.” - Mrs. Sheila Black.

“Despite that fact that AFC will not be mandating COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees at this time, we still strongly encourage all unvaccinated employees, as well as family and friends of employees to get vaccinated if eligible. COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and a better way to help build protection.” - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
