AFC Wellness Olympics

The first Arcadia Family of Companies Wellness Olympics was a resounding success, promoting a sense of community among employees, residents, clients, and members through friendly competition. The event featured a variety of engaging activities such as corn hole, wheelchair racing, ping pong, and mini golf, allowing participants to showcase their skills while competing for podium spots. Hosted across multiple locations—including 15 Craigside, Arcadia, Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia, and Home and Community Based Services—the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as spectators rallied behind their favorite athletes. This gathering not only highlighted individual talents but also served as a celebration of teamwork and camaraderie, embodying the spirit of the AFC as one unified team.

The Wellness Olympics exemplified our commitment to promoting health and well-being in a fun and interactive way. Participants enjoyed the thrill of competition while also embracing the opportunity to connect with one another in a supportive environment. The event's diverse activities catered to various interests and abilities, ensuring inclusivity for all involved. As cheers filled the air and friendships blossomed, it became clear that this inaugural event was more than just a competition; it was a heartfelt display of unity and pride within the AFC community. The success of this event establishes a hopeful benchmark for future gatherings focused on promoting wellness and strengthening connections within the AFC.

Shaka: Story of Aloha

Arcadia residents enjoyed an exclusive preview of Shaka: A Story of Aloha before its official debut at the Hawaii International Film Festival. This special screening invited attendees to immerse themselves in the film's poignant narrative, which uncovers the origins and cultural significance of the shaka sign as a symbol of aloha and connection among communities.

Blessings For Beloved Pets

15 Craigside celebrated a joyful occasion honoring the life and ministry of Saint Francis of Assisi with a blessing for cherished pets. Special thanks to Bree, Lei, and Marco for their help in organizing this heartfelt event. It’s always refreshing to take a moment to "paws" and express gratitude for our good fortune. The day was filled with fun and love, making it memorable for all involved.

Taste of Awareness: Celebrating Pink and Tacos

Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a vibrant all-pink theme while celebrating National Taco Day on the first Tuesday of October. The facility treated staff to a festive Taco Bar, inviting residents to join in the celebration. Everyone savored delicious tacos while learning about the history and significance of this beloved dish through engaging demonstrations, creating a delightful blend of awareness and culinary enjoyment.

Oktoberfest

Residents at 15 Craigside celebrated Oktoberfest in style, enjoying an afternoon filled with lively music from the Little Big Band. They indulged in a delicious spread of traditional fare, including bratwurst sliders topped with tangy sauerkraut, crispy potato wedges garnished with sour cream, onions, and bacon, and pretzels served alongside salami and cheese. To complement the delicious food, a variety of seasonal beers and other refreshments were offered.
