Valentine’s Day Celebrations
The Arcadia Family of Companies was filled with love and appreciation on Valentine’s Day! 15 Craigside and Arcadia residents and Arcadia Adult Day Care Center clients were delighted to receive beautiful roses, courtesy of AARP’s Wish of a Lifetime. The Center hosted a special Valentine’s Day photo booth, where clients and families captured picture-perfect memories, and enjoyed a live performance by “Sing for Your Life.” The Sounds of Craigside presented a heartwarming Valentine’s Day program featuring love songs, with a special dance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse. At the 15 Craigside Health Care Center, residents danced to love songs with the Queen and King of Hearts and enjoyed strawberry float desserts. Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia held a Bingo tea party and offered some Valentine’s Day advice.
Rocking the 50s
Residents at 15 Craigside enjoyed a 50s-style "Malt Shop Memories" social gathering. While everyone indulged in delicious root beer floats, many embraced the theme by dressing in their best 50s attire. Even the staff joined in on the fun, dancing to popular hits like "YMCA" and the "Electric Slide," encouraging everyone to take part in the dance hour.
Exploring Hawaii’s Plantation Village
Arcadia At Home members traveled back in time to Hawaii’s past with a tour of Hawaii’s Plantation Village in Waipahu. Members were guided through more than 25 re-created plantation homes and buildings from the 1900s. They learned about plantation life and the different groups who immigrated to Hawaii to work in the plantations.
Celebrating and Supporting Quality Care
The Arcadia Family of Companies proudly sponsored Maunalani’s 75th anniversary celebration. Roland Salon and Roselle Salon of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia and Dr. Albert Yazawa congratulated Maunalani CEO Sai Chantavy. This milestone event highlighted the strong partnership between the AFC and Maunalani in supporting quality care for the community.
Exploring Careers in Healthcare
The Farrington Healthcare Academy, a group of aspiring healthcare professionals, visited 15 Craigside and Arcadia. The visit was part of the academy’s mission to encourage and guide the next generation of healthcare workers by exposing them to various aspects of healthcare careers. During their visit, they spoke with staff to learn about the diverse roles within our communities and how we all work together to provide quality care. Through this visit, the Farrington Healthcare Academy hopes to motivate students to pursue careers in healthcare and to help them understand the profound difference they can make in the lives of others. The trip provided a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between students and older adults, offering students a deeper understanding of senior living and the possibilities it holds.
Super Bowl Fun
Residents and staff of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia gathered for a Super Bowl watch party, enjoying a spread of popcorn, chips, queso, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, and pizza rolls. For dessert, they indulged in root beer floats and ice cream sundaes! Everyone cheered for the Chiefs, and although they lost, the food and fun made for a memorable game day experience.
Plant Swap
Arcadia Adult Day Care hosted a plant swap event, bringing together clients and staff. Whether it was a new fern or a flowering plant, the event left everyone with a little green gift to nurture and care for.
Wildlife and Calving
Martin Zorn, Board Chair, shared highlights from the calving season, including eagle migrations from Alaska to Carson Valley and Northern California. About 2% of eagles are year-round residents. Zorn also observed juvenile bald eagles and discussed the birds’ relationship with cows with local ranchers. Hawks remain full-time residents throughout the season.
