National Pet Day

To celebrate National Pet Day on April 11th, Hale Ola Kino collaborated with One Kalakaua for a pawsome gathering. Pets and their humans visited the residents to bring smiles, share affectionate belly rubs, and enjoy some precious doggie kisses! One of the visitors showcased her remarkable harp playing talent, treating everyone to soothing melodies. Even the staff couldn't resist the charm of these furry visitors!

The Bond Between a Father and Daughter is Forever

It's truly special to see such a close bond between a father and daughter like 15 Craigside residents, Mrs. MaryAnn Oshiro, and her father, Mr. David Higa. Always supporting his daughter’s endeavors, Mr. Higa even joined his daughter in college at the age of 47. They graduated together with Business Administration degrees. Now both living at 15C, they cherish the quality time spent together with grand-dog Viva!

Succulents and Plant Day

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients showed off their green thumbs at an interactive plant event. Combining small succulents, snake plants and decorations, they crafted beautiful arrangements, showcasing their creativity and talent for gardening. Succulents require a lot of light but do not need to be watered as often as regular plants.

Straits Restaurant

Arcadia At Home members enjoyed a luncheon at Straits at Ward Entertainment Village. Known for their Southeast Asian cuisine, members enjoyed kaya toast, Singapore chicken satay, nasi lemak, potong kari ayam, and garlic noodles. Although the restaurant dialed down the spice level, some dishes had a kick, but all agreed that everything was flavorful and delicious!

Arcadia Cooling Tower Replacement

New cooling towers arrived at Arcadia and were hoisted to the rooftop via crane to replace the existing ones. These play a major role in the building’s chill water system, allowing it to remove heat from the building and vent it into the atmosphere. It is used to cool the air from the apartments, offices, health care centers and the dining room.

Happy Birthday!

15 Craigside resident, Mrs. Mabel Kuba celebrated her 101st birthday on April 16th! Her fellow residents and Health Care Center staff joined in on the special festivities to celebrate this momentous occasion! She even received a gorgeous crown flower lei. We wish her another year of good health, happiness, and love!

Card and Games Party

Arcadia residents had a blast at the 2024 Card and Games Party! The annual event raises funds for resident committees and is the only Arcadia Residents’ Association (ARA) fundraiser. Guests enjoyed games like mahjong, checkers and hanafuda, delicious snacks, and a $1 raffle for a shot at winning $100. There was a silent auction featuring items from artwork to household goods.

Ada Duo Performance

Addison Teng and Amy Hess, both accomplished violinists, visited 15 Craigside to entertain the residents with a joint performance. Their harmonious playing complemented each other, captivating the audience with every beautiful note of classical tunes. Residents thanked the performers afterward and asked them to come back soon!
