Summer Newsletter from Radford High School

Arcadia Home Health Services has been collaborating with Radford High School’s National Honor Society throughout the pandemic to create a newsletter for Home Health clients. Their Summer Newsletter features games, trivia, crossword puzzles and fun facts. The students also gave them handmade cards, and at Christmas they made them ornaments. What a wonderful way to keep people connected during times like these! Thank you to Radford High School’s NHS for spreading the aloha!

Arcadia Puzzle Painting

Arcadia residents made their own puzzles last week. They placed tape on blank puzzle canvases, and used their creativity to make each puzzle unique, with vibrant colors and patterns. After they finished painting, they removed the tape to create a shattered glass effect. These look like they will be so much fun to put together later!

15 Craigside Bookmark Donations

After reading about the Arcadia Health Care Center Book Club featured in last week’s Ho’omau, a group of residents from 15 Craigside came together to make these beautiful bookmarks to donate to them. They were so happy to learn about the book club and really wanted to support the love of reading. Mahalo to the 15C residents who made this possible!

Endless Summer Treats

15 Craigside residents got an Endless Summer treat of ice cream sandwiches this week. For some, the vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate wafers, brought back memories of family gatherings and ice cream trucks.

Painting Seahorses at Arcadia Day Care

Clients at Arcadia Adult Day Care made seahorse crafts. They painted the seahorses, then cut and pasted them on another paper. Activities Coordinator, Anela Bartels, said the clients used their creative styles and skills to bring the seahorses to life.

Staying Active At Home

Arcadia At Home member, Mrs. Murakami, used to attend the Arcadia Wellness Center every week to workout. Since Arcadia At Home member visits to 15 Craigside and Arcadia were suspended on August 9, she has continued to stay active by exercising at home, with her furry friend to keep her company. Way to go, Mrs. Murakami!

Shave Ice Celebration

A resident recently celebrated a special anniversary at Arcadia. To honor and mark this incredible milestone, this resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, arranged a special treat for the residents and staff of Arcadia. Everyone was able to enjoy a refreshing shave ice from Kona Ice. Perfect for cooling off on a hot, summer day!

The Milky Way at Haleakala

Arcadia Family of Companies’ Board Chair, Martin Zorn, captured this stunning photo of the Milky Way while camping at Haleakala. The view from the campground had zero light pollution, allowing him to clearly see the stars and meteors in the sky. What an amazing experience. Thank you to Mr. Zorn for sharing this photo with us!
