Voted Hawaii’s Best 2025
A huge congratulations to Arcadia Home Health for winning 1st Place for Best Home Care Services, and to Arcadia Adult Day Care and Day Health Center for winning 1st Place for Best Adult Day Care in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s Hawaii’s Best 2025 awards! 15 Craigside and Arcadia were also recognized as finalists for Best Senior Living Facility, reflecting our ongoing commitment to Hawaii’s kupuna.
Each year, the Star-Advertiser recognizes the businesses that represent the very best of Hawaii. We are proud to share this honor with you, our residents, clients, and members, whose spirit and support inspire us every day.
A Thousand Cranes for Peace
In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and the end of World War II, residents of 15 Craigside presented 1,000 paper cranes at the soft opening of the new Sadako Sasaki exhibit at the USS Arizona Memorial.
Led by 15C resident Ms. Hiromi Peterson, the group spent the past few months carefully folding the cranes as a heartfelt gesture of peace, healing, and remembrance. Their gift symbolizes a powerful act of unity across generations and cultures, honoring the memory of those affected by the war.
Sadako Sasaki is remembered as the young girl who began folding 1,000 paper cranes while suffering from leukemia caused by radiation exposure from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. According to Japanese legend, folding 1,000 cranes—known as senbazuru—grants the folder a wish. Sadako’s wish was to recover. Although she passed away at the age of 12, her story has inspired millions around the world as a symbol of resilience, hope, and the longing for peace.
Walking Together for Heart Health
Arcadia Family of Companies was proud to sponsor the
2025 Hawaii American Heart Association Heart Walk, where residents and employees came together in support of better heart health.
Little Plum, Big Delight
After reading about Arcadia residents’ visit in a previous issue of Ho’omau, our Arcadia At Home members decided to try Little Plum! Most had no idea this hidden gem existed in Manoa Marketplace and were delighted by its contemporary, cozy ambiance. Ms. Adele Chong even clipped a recent magazine article about the restaurant to share with the group. Members were excited to try the recommended dishes, including mushroom jook, miso eggplant, and adobo fried chicken. When the teishoku sets arrived, a chorus of “Oh, this is good!” echoed across the tables. Though “Little” is in its name, the restaurant is big on flavor and hospitality, leaving everyone eager for another visit.
Savoring Moments at Lady Elaine
Arcadia residents enjoyed a fun lunch outing at Lady Elaine, savoring delicious food and even better company.
Scoops of Spumoni Fun
Residents at Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia had a sweet and festive time celebrating National Spumoni Ice Cream Day with homemade spumoni layered with chocolate, cherry, and pistachio. This classic Italian dessert was carefully sliced and topped with whipped cream, creating the perfect treat.
