Voted Honolulu’s Best

A huge congratulations to 15 Craigside and Arcadia for being named Best Retirement Community in HONOLULU Magazine’s 2025 “Best of HONOLULU” awards — and to the Arcadia Adult Day Care & Day Health Center for winning Best Adult Day Care! Each year, HONOLULU Magazine highlights the top businesses that represent the very best the islands have to offer. This recognition is a true reflection of the kindness, compassion, and respect shown every day by our incredible teams at the Arcadia Family of Companies. Mahalo to the readers of HONOLULU Magazine and to all of our supporters for your votes for recognizing us as the best!

Celebrating Obon at 15 Craigside

With Obon season in full swing, the residents of 15 Craigside presented their annual Bon Dance in the Theater. Featuring a beautifully handcrafted yagura and Japanese-themed backdrops, their months of practice came to life as residents and staff joined together in celebration. Obon is a traditional Japanese festival held to honor and remember deceased ancestors. Celebrated in Japan for over 500 years, the event includes bon odori — a folk dance that brings people together in joyful remembrance.

Saving Lives, One Pint at a Time

Arcadia Adult Day Care client Mr. George Takeuchi isn’t exactly sure when he began donating blood — he just remembers seeing a commercial and frequently driving past the Blood Bank of Hawaii, which inspired him to give. Since then, he estimates he’s donated gallons over his lifetime. For Mr. Takeuchi, donating is a civic duty — he gives not only for those in need, but also in place of family members who are unable to donate. He believes the desire to donate comes from within and inspires others simply by leading through action. He has been honored as a “Super Donor” by the Blood Bank of Hawaii and is looking forward to donating again at the upcoming AFC Blood Drive at Central Union Church on Tuesday, August 12. Mahalo for your dedication and for leading the way to help save lives!

Strings, Songs and Spirit at Arcadia

Residents at Arcadia were delighted by a lively and heartwarming performance from the Leahi Serenaders. This talented group, made up of retired volunteers passionate about sharing the joy of Hawaiian music, brought smiles and aloha spirit through their enchanting steel guitar melodies, soulful harmonica tunes, graceful hula dancing, and beautiful singing. Tex, their remarkable steel guitarist, who at 101 years young continues to perform actively, inspired everyone with his dedication and vibrant spirit.

Dole Whip Delights

Residents celebrated National Dole Whip Day with delicious, homemade Dole Whip at Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia!

Reel Fun at 15 Craigside

15 Craigside residents at the Health Care Center enjoyed a fun summertime fishing activity! Teaming up in pairs, one resident cast the line while the other was ready with a bucket to catch the fish.
