Generations United in Art
The Arcadia Arts and Crafts Committee collaborated with students from Mid-Pacific Institute for an Intergenerational Art Workshop held in Arcadia’s Chapel. Designed to encourage interaction, collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge between generations, the workshop was a success! Both residents and students agreed it ended far too soon. Together, participants created the beginnings of several artworks, including a 1950s-style bicycle in clay, sketches capturing a lifetime of struggle and love, and a three-dimensional piece titled “Keiki Memories.” Resident artwork from the workshop will be featured at the MPI Art Expo in late January and again during the Arcadia Arts and Crafts sponsored MPI Art Exhibition at Arcadia in April
Arcadia’s Jukebox Celebration
Mat’s Place brought retro charm to the Arcadia Dining Room as residents gathered for this month’s lively celebration of Jukebox Month. Hosted monthly by resident Mr. Mat Sgan, the event invites Arcadia residents to enjoy a fun themed evening and this one hits all the right notes! Everyone enjoyed Mat’s signature free open bar, featuring “Jukebox Special Drinks” inspired by classic diner culture and vintage tunes. With each new theme offering something fresh and festive, Mat’s Place continues to be a highlight for residents.
Carols and Holiday Smiles
Arcadia was filled with holiday cheer when St. Clement’s preschoolers visited to sing Christmas carols. Resident Mrs. Charlene Wall delighted the children by reading “Little Blue Truck’s Christmas,” and Arcadia presented each preschooler with a special holiday gift. It was a heartwarming gathering that perfectly captured the spirit of the season.
Jingle Bells and Joy at 15 Craigside
15 Craigside’s annual Christmas Performance kicked off the holiday season with joy and warmth! The event showcased resident talent, including the Sounds of Craigside’s ukulele players and singers, energetic taiko drummers, graceful hula dancers, and the new 15C Chordettes performing “Jingle Bell Rock.” Audience members tapped along with jingle bells, adding cheerful sound of bells ringing in celebration. It was a delightful celebration of talent, creativity, and Christmas cheer!
Sweet Creations
Residents of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia got into the holiday spirit with a festive gingerbread house decorating party. With icing, candy, and plenty of creativity, everyone crafted their own unique masterpieces.
Mickey Magic
Arcadia Adult Day Care clients celebrated Mickey Mouse’s birthday with themed crafts and embraced a “Disney Attire Day.” It was a magical celebration, reminding everyone that a little Disney magic is fun at any age!
A Season of Thanks
Residents of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia and their families enjoyed a warm and festive evening at HOKA’s Thanksgiving Family Dinner on the soon-tobe “Zen Garden Lanai.” A heartfelt mahalo to the Recreation Therapy and Dining teams for creating such a welcoming space for togetherness, thankfulness, and celebration.
“Mahalo to our incredible employees for making the Christmas Celebrations last Friday at 15 Craigside, Arcadia, HOKA, and HCBS truly sparkle! You are the twinkle in our lights, the jingle in our bells, and the heart behind every joyful moment. We’re so grateful for the joy, dedication, and spirit you bring to our AFC ohana.” -Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
