Crafting Heartfelt Iris Cards

Arcadia residents enjoyed a hands-on iris card making workshop taught by guest instructor Janet Miyashiro. Iris card making is a paper craft technique that uses layered strips of colored or patterned paper to form a spiral design that resembles the shutter of a camera. For this workshop, residents created heart-shaped designs just in time for Valentine’s Day. Janet guided everyone through each step and watched their patterns appear layer by layer. Participants selected their papers, assembled their designs and admired each other’s work as their cards took shape. By the end of the session, residents proudly held beautifully crafted heart-shaped iris cards that reflected their personal style and creativity.

A Taste of Na Mea Ono

15 Craigside’s Na Mea Ono (The Delicious Place) Cocktail Hour featured live entertainment by the Jolz Duo and a curated culinary spread including roasted butternut squash with dates, balsamic reduction, and herb Boursin on crostini; brie with bacon jam puff pastry; and an assortment of fine cheeses and prosciutto. Residents enjoyed a relaxing time with great music, delicious bites, and wonderful company.

Manju in the Making

15 Craigside Health Care Center residents enjoyed a live manju cooking demo—and the best part was savoring them fresh out of the oven!

Thumbs Up for Blondies

Residents at Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia had a sweet time celebrating National Blonde Brownie Day with a fun baking session. They mixed, baked, and happily taste-tested homemade blondies while enjoying videos that showed how the treats are made. Our star resident baker gave the finished batch a big thumbs up, and the blondies were an instant hit. Blonde brownies, also known as blondies, are the vanilla cousin of traditional chocolate brownies. Made with brown sugar and butter instead of cocoa, they are loved for their rich, caramel-like flavor.

Jackpots, Mocktails & Dancing

Residents tested their luck at the 15 Craigside Health Care Center Casino Day, playing slots, blackjack high-low, and Left, Right, Center. The excitement continued with refreshing mocktails and plenty of dancing

Spotted: Smiles and Polka Dots

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients and staff celebrated National Polka Dot Day wearing their favorite polka dot outfits, spotting smiles throughout the Center. Polka dots first appeared in an American fashion magazine in 1857. The pattern grew in popularity during the 1920s after Miss America contestant Norma Smallwood wore a polka dot swimsuit, helping establish it as a lasting fashion staple.

Paper Blooms

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients created colorful paper flower crafts,

expressing their creativity. With guided support from staff, they shaped, folded, and assembled their own unique blossoms.
