Arcadia At Home Diner Delivery

On March 30th, Arcadia At Home (AAH) members feasted on ono, local-style food from The Alley Restaurant at Aiea Bowl.

Signature dishes such as tasty chicken (battered, deep-fried, and coated with The Alley’s “Tasty Sauce”) and lemon crunch cake (yellow chiffon cake with lemon curd and almond toffee) were ordered from the eatery within the bowling alley. Some members also tried the interesting Pepsi Cola turkey sandwich or salad that featured turkey breast marinated in Pepsi.

Keeping with the theme, some also tried their hand at a little bowling activity. Thank you to Anela Bartels, Activities Coordinator at the Arcadia Adult Day Care, for supplying the bowling balls and pins.

Demonstrating their best bowling forms are members Mrs. Chong (left) and Mrs. Murakami (center). Shown in the right photo are AAH Member Services Manager Shannon Miyazaki and Mrs. Murakami. Mask was removed for picture taking.

Recycled Paper Craft

In an effort to reduce waste, 15 Craigside residents constructed notepads made from recycled paper. As a cute touch, colorful scrapbook paper was added as an accent at the top of the pads. The notepads are perfect for those times you need to write something down to remember, or would make a great sustainable gift! Showing their finished products are Mrs. Ann Kealoha, Mrs. Nellie Lum and Mrs. Edith Harada (right photo).

Paint a Flower Pot

On a recent beautiful spring day, Arcadians spent some time outdoors in the garden and welcomed in the season by decorating terracotta flower pots. Participants used stencils or their own imaginations to make each pot uniquely their own. Everyone is looking forward to using their creations as a home to grow their next plant - just in time for Earth Day later this month!

Senior Prom

The Arcadia Health Care Center celebrated National Prom Day on March 31st with their very own Senior Prom! Like all proms, music, dancing, food and of course, photos were included. Corsages were made for the ladies and boutonnieres for the gentlemen. Crowned prom king and queen were Rev. Allan and Mrs. Eloise Lee (left photo). Masks were removed for picture taking.

We’ve Moved!

To accommodate a larger inventory and higher demand, the 15 Craigside resident store has been moved. The locations of the original store and the multipurpose room have been swapped. Residents and staff alike have been enjoying the new space. If you haven't done so already, please check out the upgraded store. Perhaps you’ll discover a new treasure! Pictured are store volunteers Mrs. Marian Tomoeda and Mrs. Nellie Lum.

3-D Cow Craft

15 Craigside residents transformed paper into another 3-D animal, this time a cow! After cutting and pasting the template to create this adorable cow, residents were definitely put in a good “moo’d.” Did you know cows drink about a bathtub full of water every day and have amazing panoramic vision which allows then to see everything except right behind them?

Sharing Aloha With Flowers

Have you noticed something new in the Arcadia lounge? Yukiko Miyai from DECO Clay Craft Academy donated the beautiful orchid arrangement. Yukiko is a friend of AFC CIO Michael Chong and her company specializes in lifelike floral designs created from air-dry clay. Mahalo, Yukiko for brightening our community! Masks were removed for picture taking.

15 Craigside Photography Club

Favorite photographs from among club founding “father” Mr. Wallace Ohta’s collection are featured on the Artistry Wall outside of the Wellness Center this month. Please stop by and spend some quiet time enjoying it! Mahalo to club members, Mr. Wilbert Kubota, Mr. Gordon Nishiki and Mr. Clifford Tokumaru who volunteered to help with Mr. Ohta’s display.

“Remember that we are still in the midst of a pandemic and COVID continues to spread. Our county positivity rate is increasing AND we are seeing cases within the AFC, as well as a number of close contacts and exposures amongst employees. Please continue to stay vigilant in practicing strong infection prevention measures and make sure you are up to date with all COVID-19 vaccinations you are eligible for.” - Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
