Arcadia Resident Archivist

Since 2010, Arcadia resident Mrs. Ellen Chapman has served as the Arcadia Family of Companies Archivist, ensuring the preservation and accessibility of valuable records and archives. With 25 years of experience, she also works part-time at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Initially asked by former President and CEO Emmet White, she has transformed the storage closet into her archival office, where documents are meticulously stored in boxes to prevent water damage along with a digital archive. Mrs. Chapman's work included collecting historical information from Central Union Church predating Arcadia's establishment and authoring Arcadia 1967-2017: 50 Years of Senior Living Excellence, with the help of Arcadia staff. We are so grateful for her dedication to preserving our history, publications, and cherished memories!

National Random Act of Cardness Day

On Wednesday, June 5th, Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia residents joined a Facebook group, and received over 80 addresses to send cards to in celebration of National Random Act of Cardness Day. Requests flooded in for birthday, anniversary, and get-well cards. The residents were delighted to adorn the cards with rainbows and signatures, sending a heartfelt note of aloha to friends they haven’t met yet.

15C Summer Day Camp

15 Craigside residents organized a three-day Summer Day Camp, welcoming twelve children of 15C employees. The kids participated in various activities including ikebana, taiko drumming, bon dance, lei making, games, hula and line dancing. Eversound EPIC Championship Award

Congratulations to Gina Heshiki, 15 Craigside Activities Supervisor, for being honored with the May Eversound EPIC Championship Award! Gina and her team utilize the Eversound headsets in group and individual activities in the Health Care Center, allowing residents to engage fully and listen without being interrupted by external noise. Well-deserved recognition for her team's commitment to enhancing resident engagement!

June Brides

In honor of the June brides at Arcadia Adult Day Care Center, clients participated in a fun activity using toilet paper. With the help of both staff and clients, lucky individuals were adorned in makeshift elegant "dresses." One of the fortunate gentlemen even embraced the role of a samurai.

Tie Dye Totes and More

The clients and staff of the Arcadia Adult Day Care Center got creative, decorating t-shirts, tote bags, scrunchies, and bandanas. And what's a creative day without a sweet treat? They also indulged in shave ice! Tie Dye Tuesday is a weekly tradition for the Arcadia Family of Companies, making every Tuesday a splash of color and fun!

Los Chaparros

Arcadia At Home members enjoyed lunch at Los Chaparros on Beretania Street. They ordered chile relleno, quesadilla, flautas, chimichanga, enchilada, and carne asade. A refreshing glass of sangria and horchata served as the perfect pairing for the meal! Los Chaparros means “The Shorties,” the affectionate nickname of the restaurant owners, Mario (5' 4") and Lisa (4' 9").

Adorable Friends

Two baby bunnies have found a cozy refuge amidst the foliage in Board Chair Martin Zorn’s backyard, away from lurking dangers like hawks and coyotes in the nearby sagebrush. Ensuring security while they nibble on their meals, this peaceful coexistence with nature adds a touch of serenity, reminding us of the simple joys found in observing the wildlife around us.

“To all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures – on Father's Day and every day, we are grateful for you! Thank you for being our guides and inspirations, nurturing us with your wisdom, guidance, and love!" -Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
