Celebrating a Giant Leap

To celebrate the 56th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, Arcadia residents staged a fun and informative performance for International Moon Day. The show honored the historic 1969 moment when humans first walked on the moon. Resident Mrs. Kay Fitzsimmons wrote the original script, which became a collaborative project as cast and crew revised and expanded it together. After many rehearsals, the performance came to life, bringing back the joy of live resident shows. Some costumes were purchased, while others were handmade. To top off the celebration, moon pies were handed out to everyone who attended. Arcadia residents reenact the moon landing with costumes, collaboration, and moon pies!

Residents Rally for Safer Streets

Residents of 15 Craigside have been advocating for improved street safety since 2016. Concerned about poor visibility when turning onto Nuuanu Avenue and the difficulty of crossing safely, 15C residents Mr. Masaru Abe and Mr. Robert Masuda attended neighborhood meetings and met with government officials. In March 2024, they teamed up with fellow resident Mrs. Nancy Weaver, rallying the community with “S.O.S. Save Our Seniors” posters and collecting 245 petitions from staff and residents. Mrs. Weaver reached out to State Representative Jenna Takenouchi and her aide, Kelton Cheney, to present several safety solutions. After many phone calls and follow-ups, 15 Craigside received word that speed humps would be installed on Nuuanu Avenue, and the installation is now complete! Mrs. Weaver credits the Lord for this success, while Mr. Abe and Mr. Masuda emphasize that more improvements are still needed, including adjusting street parking to improve visibility. Their efforts highlight the power of community voices in driving change to protect residents, employees, and the broader neighborhood.

Liliha Bakery Luncheon

Arcadia residents enjoyed a lunch outing at the International Marketplace’s popular Liliha Bakery. Known for classic Hawaiian pastries and hearty comfort food, Liliha provided a perfect setting for residents to savor flavors and spend time together. They sampled favorites while soaking in the lively market atmosphere. Many residents enjoyed trying new dishes alongside familiar ones.

Summer Fun and Friendship Party

Arcadia At Home members gathered at 15 Craigside’s Solarium for the annual Summer Fun & Friendship Party, hosted by the Arcadia Family of Companies Marketing and Member Services team. Guests enjoyed delicious Hawaiian food, fun games like Movie Trivia and Mango Blitz, and lots of laughter. The highlight of the day was seeing longtime friendships rekindled and new connections made.

Carnival Day at The Center

Arcadia Adult Day Care clients had a blast at the carnival, thoughtfully created and run by dedicated staff. The day was filled with fun games, festive decorations, and prizes. Clients enjoyed classics like ring toss and balloon darts, celebrating each win with big smiles.

Soaring Skies and Sweet Treats

Residents of Hale Ola Kino by Arcadia enjoyed a breezy holo holo to Sandy Beach with one special request: to fly kites! The steady ocean wind made for ideal flying conditions. The day ended on a sweet note with shave ice from a nearby food truck, the perfect treat for a sunny day.

“Our health is so important! I encourage everyone to take a moment each day to step outside, take a few deep breaths, and enjoy a 15-minute walk!”-Suzie Schulberg, President & CEO
