Lunch, Laughter and Local Flavor
Arcadia At Home members enjoyed a lunch outing at Kapa Hale in Kahala. Chef and owner Keaka Lee draws inspiration from the Hawaiian art of kapa making, using its patterns and shapes to tell a story. Viewing each plate as a blank piece of kapa, he lets his imagination guide the ingredients, creating dishes that are both meaningful and delicious. Members enjoyed flavorful dishes like garlic shrimp scampi, shroom melt, mushroom risotto, and desserts including pecan pie, Da Kahala Shuffle (chocolate and Kahlua mud pie), and haupia sorbet. Chef Keaka even dropped by the table to make sure everyone left happy and full!
Honoring Heroes
In honor of the Fourth of July, residents at Arcadia came together to show their appreciation for the men and women who serve our country and communities. Through heartfelt letters filled with words of encouragement and gratitude, they expressed their gratefulness. The Programs Department coordinated with Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that delivers care packages and letters of support to deployed troops, veterans, first responders, military families, and recruit graduates. This meaningful activity was a special way to celebrate Independence Day, by giving back to those who dedicate themselves to protecting our freedom and safety.
Intergenerational Connections
Students in the Iolani KA’I summer program focused on building connections during a special visit with Arcadia residents. Together, they made succulent terrariums, shared stories, played cards, and made lei.
Summer Treats
Resident store volunteers at 15 Craigside launched their summer shave ice service for residents and staff to enjoy. With a mix of new flavors and classic favorites, everyone cooled off with a refreshing treat as the weather warmed up. Mahalo to our wonderful volunteers for bringing smiles (and shave ice!) to 15C!
Sharing Aloha, One Lei at a Time
Residents at 15 Craigside came together for a lei-making session, creating a variety of beautiful leis using finger crochet, needle crochet, and paper origami techniques. These handmade leis will be gifted to new residents, on birthdays, and to those who are feeling unwell—a heartfelt gesture to share warmth, welcome, and care within the community.
Sweet Summer Walk & Roll
Hale Ola Kino residents took a six-minute “walk and roll” to Baskin-Robbins to enjoy the perfect summer treat. They enjoyed fresh air and good company. Once they arrived, everyone indulged in a sweet, refreshing scoop of their favorite ice cream flavors.
Stars, Stripes, and Smiles
This Fourth of July, clients at Arcadia Adult Day Care showed their patriotic spirit by proudly wearing their red, white, and blue colors.
