American Heart Association Heart Walk
On Saturday, August 3rd, the Arcadia Family of Companies came together for the American Heart Association Heart Walk at Kapiolani Park. The event was a gathering of all ages in a shared mission to support heart health and raise crucial funds for cardiovascular disease research. Staff and residents proudly wore bright blue Arcadia Family of Companies shirts, highlighting their dedication to the cause and adding a vibrant flair to the event. They enjoyed fun activities, exercise, and a delicious bento.
National Chili Dog Day
The Arcadia Adult Day Care celebrated National Chili Dog Day with a fun afternoon picnic! Clients enjoyed games and savored delicious chili dogs and chips, making for a festive and enjoyable event. The cheerful atmosphere and tasty treats were a perfect way to mark the occasion.
Honolulu Wind Ensemble
The Honolulu Wind Ensemble, comprising of 70 musicians, performed at 15 Craigside, enchanting the Theater with a repertoire of delightful musical compositions. The ensemble's performance included a range of melodies from patriotic, Hawaiian to lively disco tunes, enchanting the audience with their vibrant and engaging selections.
Sushi Extravaganza
Arcadia’s Dining team hosted a Sushi Night with three sushi stations featuring trained chefs and premium sake. Residents invited family and friends to enjoy the ambience with shakuhachi music, authentic noren curtains, a folding screen resembling Japanese shoji doors and cherry blossoms everywhere. Thank you Arcadia!
Iolani Palace
Hale Ola Kino residents enjoyed a tour of Iolani Palace with Docent Isaac, who regaled them with stories about Royal Hawaiian history and delightful anecdotes about the island’s kings and queens. A highlight was learning that King Kalakaua’s favorite dessert at dinner parties was vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries, made with ice imported from Alaska!
National Root Beer Float Day
The Arcadia residents had the ultimate treat to beat the heat by celebrating National Root Beer Float Day! The event featured classic root beer floats, alongside a variety of other sodas, allowing everyone to customize their float experience. The celebration was filled with laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of a beloved summertime favorite.
National Purple Heart Day
The Arcadia Adult Day Care recently celebrated National Purple Heart Day by wearing purple attire to honor military heroes. Staff and clients united in a display of purple, reflecting their gratitude and respect for those wounded or lost in service. The event served as a heartfelt tribute, allowing the community to meaningfully recognize the courage and sacrifice of these remarkable individuals.
Giovanni’s & Matsumoto’s
The Arcadia residents enjoyed a summer north shore outing to Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck and Matsumoto Shave Ice to close out the summer. The visit started with a mouthwatering garlic shrimp lunch followed by the iconic shave ice treat. Residents selected their favorite flavor, combination flavors and toppings from homemade azuki beans to vanilla ice cream.
